The University of Winnipeg Collegiate community was shocked and deeply saddened to learn that Jashanpreet Singh Toor’s father was attacked while working as a Duffy’s Taxi driver and later succumbed to his injuries. Jashanpreet’s school community wants to ensure that his tuition is covered so that he can study at the Collegiate through to his graduation.
Jashanpreet is a truly dedicated and accomplished student, who enriches the Collegiate community. Over the last three years, he has shown maturity and leadership in the classroom, with his friends, and in athletics. As Jashanpreet heads into his grade 12 year, we want to ensure that he continues to build a strong academic foundation that will enable his plans to study business at university.
Jashanpreet’s father, Balvir Toor, passed away on March 19, 2020, at the age of 44. He worked hard to support his family, and it was while working that he was seriously injured in an unprovoked attack. Balvir was born in Punjab, India. He married Parmjit Toor in 1998, and the family moved to Winnipeg in 2010. Balvir is survived by his wife and three children: Manpreet, Harmanpreet, and Jashanpreet.
The Toor family placed great importance on a strong education for their children to provide opportunities for their futures. We are seeking your help to support Jashanpreet’s studies at the University of Winnipeg Collegiate. Any funds that remain in this scholarship after Jashanpreet’s grade 12 graduation will go towards his post-secondary education.
