Virtuosi Concerts Young Artist Program is pleased to present four selected young artists from years past and present to be featured in a concert they will call their own. In late May, young artists from the 2016 season to present were invited to propose a 20 minute program of music on the theme [R]Evolution. Each proposal was required to explain a moment of shift in a musical landscape, while maintaining a personal connection to the repertoire. Ten proposals were submitted. Virtuosi’s (blind) jury comprised of soprano Lara Ciekiewicz and pianist Shirley Elias selected four artists, noting each proposal was written with passion and creativity.
Two of the featured YAP artists are on CBC’s Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30 – 2019 list.

The four Virtuosi Young Artists are:

Thomas Ingram, clarinet     Eckhardt-Gramatté and the
Evolution of Manitoba Compositions
David Liam Roberts, cello   Kodály – Impressionism to Folk
Sawyer Craig, soprano       Womxn Composers and Art Song
Albert Chen, piano              Russian Revolution
